Going by the numbers (more than 1.5 billion monthly active users), WhatsApp is by far the most popular messaging app across the platforms. That’s probably the prime reason why most of us would like to use WhatsApp on Apple Watch Series 4.
Unfortunately, the Facebook-owned messaging app is yet to roll out the support for watchOS. But needless to lose sleep over it as there is a well-thought-out app called IM+ that can fill the void with good effect.
Aside from supporting WhatsApp on Apple’s smartwatch, this app is designed to be a one-stop solution to handle several social media apps including Twitter, Google Talk, Instagram, Telegram, Facebook, Messenger, Skype, Tinder, LinkedIn, and more. So you, kind of, have a social networking hub to keep a tab on almost everything that’s dictating your social life. Let’s get started!
How to Use WhatsApp on Apple Watch Series 4, Series 3
As Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 3 come with cellular support, you can communicate with your friends more independently. I mean you won’t have to rely on the Internet connectivity of your paired iPhone.
Note that IM+ Messenger has enabled only WhatsApp on the Apple Watch; you will have to wait to sync other apps on the messenger.
Step #1. First off, you need to download IM+ Watch on your Apple Watch.
For this purpose, open Watch app on your paired iPhone → Tap on Search button from the bottom menu → Find IM+ Watch.
It’s a paid app; it costs you $2.99.
Step #2. Once the app is downloaded on your Apple Watch, install it from the list of AVAILABLE APPS on My Watch tab.
This will show IM+ Watch on your Apple Watch cluster/grid of apps.
It’s time to scan the QR code.
Step #3. On your Apple Watch, open IM+ Watch; a QR code will appear for the first time.
Step #4. Now, open WhatsApp on your iPhone → Tap on Settings option from the bottom menu; then tap on WhatsApp Web/Desktop.
Step #6. Here, you need to tap on Scan QR Code option, which is seen last.
Step #7. Hold your iPhone over your Apple Watch, which flashes the QR Code. Your iPhone will quickly scan the QR code, and IM+ Watch will be synced with your iPhone.
Now, open IM+ Watch on your Apple Watch and start using WhatsApp from your wrist.
All your WhatsApp contacts will appear on your Apple Watch; it will take some time, so have patience. Once your WhatsApp contacts appear, tap on the one and then tap on Reply button to start chatting.
In the absence of IM+ Watch, you can always send a reply to a WhatsApp message. This app has the benefit of initiating a conversation with any contact even if you don’t have your iPhone on your person.
